Doris L. Shelley, age 94 of Bordentown, passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at the Marcella Center in Burlington. Doris was born in Columbus County, North Carolina on February 14, 1930 to Coy and Mortie Lee Elliott. She moved from North Carolina and lived in the New Egypt area for most of her life where she owned and operated many local businesses, including Landry’s Tavern and Dottie’s Luncheonette. She loved to cook and bake, and in her later years, Doris found pure joy in spending time with her cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be greatly missed. Predeceased by her parents, Coy and Mortie Lee Elliott, and her son and daughter-in-law Gary Lynn and Susan Shelley; Doris is survived by her son Randy and his wife Suzanne “Sam” Shelley, her daughter Brenda and her husband James Canitz; her daughter-in-law Cheryl Craig and her husband Joseph; her grandchildren, Landry, Cy, Bailey, Austin, Courtnee’, Victoria, Casey, Drew, James Jr., Brittainy, Gabriel, Daniel and Timothy; her great grandchildren, Kendall, Carlene, Hadleigh, Blake, Madelyn, Landon, Preston, Lillian, Evelyn, Nate, McKenzie, Adam, Kylie, Alex, Brooke, Gabby, Sydney, and Rowan; and her great great grandson, Maverick. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday May 1, 2024 from 9:00am until 11:00am at Tilghman Funeral Home 52 Main Street New Egypt, NJ. A funeral service will begin at 11:00am at the funeral home with interment to follow in the Jacobstown Baptist Cemetery, Jacobstown.
