First of all Ed was the nicest guy you could know. I remember as a little kid maybe 9-10 yrs old going to the shore with Alice (my sister) and Ed in his 1957 big Mercury. The speedometer had a red line and Ed used to tell me it was tomato juice and he would have to add juice to it. As a little kid I was awed by that speedometer and enjoyed these trips to the shore with Alice and Ed. I also have fond memories of Ed heading into the ocean with me to ride the waves. Ed was not just Alice's boyfriend, but a friend of the family.
The first time I went to a major league ball game, I was about 9 yrs old. I went with my Dad and Ed at Connie Mack Staduim to see the Dodgers and Phillies play. I sat between Ed and my Dad as I watched Duke Snyder hit a home run off the score board. I can't remember exactly Ed's reaction but I am sure he was thrilled as he was a big Dodgers fan.
