Q: What will you never forget about Dorothea?
A: Matt and Tonya, I want you to know how special your mother was to me, Yes Stubborn and Opinionated- but she was always there when you asked for help- no matter what the circumstances were- if she thought that helping you would not be good- she would tell you that too!-
This past weekend was probably one of the hardest weekends for me in years.
I lost another "sister" in the dog show world....
Dot Garret and I go so far back- since before PBGV's were recognized... we fought like cats and dogs- but ALWAYS knew what "friendship" meant- we never EVER Lied to each other- and yeah it hurt our feelings- but we were friends no matter what- as we BOTH learned to respect each others opinions. We held the same passion in life as we did in our dogs- meaning when something "affected our family" with out question that member would have our support. - BUT if you lied- Forget it you were put on the back burner- we both told ourselves many times "life is too short"- when I lived out east you would ALWAYS see us at a dog show together- when I moved back to Michigan- we would talk at least once a month for HOURS!....Dot was very special person- when she let you into her "circle" you would have learned she was a VERY VERY Private person- and let VERY few into that Circle. I will Never forget our drive back and forth from New Egypt to Harrisburg- leaving before the sunrise- and driving back at dark- singing ourselves silly to stay awake!- Nor will I never forget showing our Girl April at the Rhode Island PBGV National MANY years ago- learning more about the breed I thought I knew- Nor will I ever forget our LONG into the night talking about anything and everything- then there is the chasing of Sinner who decided to jump through the shrubs in the back yard.... Dot will be forever in my heart- and I am POSITIVE she will be looking over our shoulder every now and then- it's that Heritage!
