Anthony M. ?Tony? Metta, age 69, of Whiting died Tuesday, August 5 at Care One in Hamilton. Born in Orange, NJ, he had lived in the New Egypt and Cream Ridge areas for many years before moving to Whiting a few years ago. Tony was the previous owner of the Plum Tree Restaurant (formerly known as Dottie?s Luncheonette) in New Egypt. He was a member of the New Egypt Elk?s Lodge and was a very avid fisherman. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Nicholas A. & Phyllis Metta; three daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa & Dean Goff, Rosemarie & Gary Archacavage and Annmarie & Bill Baumann; five grandchildren, Michael Archacavage, Lindsey Rutledge, Nicole & Phillip Metta and Matthew Baumann; a sister, Frances Butkus and a brother, Frank Metta. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 9 at 9:45 AM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street in New Egypt. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Friday, August 8 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Tony?s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1035 Hooper Avenue, Toms River, NJ 08753.
