Obituary of Allan Cheney II

Allan Cheney II, age 71, of New Egypt died Thursday, March 15 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Philadelphia, he was a resident of East Windsor before moving to New Egypt in 1992.
Al was the president and manager of Gilbert A. Cheney, Inc., Sheet Metal Fabricators in Cranbury, NJ before retiring in 2008. He was also the past president of the National Heating & Air Conditioning Association and past president of the National All Terrain Vehicles Owners Association.
Al was a former dirt track racer in the area, running the #73 car at East Windsor and Flemington in the 50’s and 60’s before handing the wheel over to his son Allan III who still races at area tracks. Al remained a huge fan of local racing as well as NASCAR and could be found in the stands on every weekend during race season.
Allan was predeceased by his parents, Gilbert A. and Grace (Smith) Cheney. He is survived by his wife, Pat (nee Fish) Cheney; a son, Allan Cheney III of Hamilton; two daughters, Patricia Lynn Cheney of Baltimore, MD and Beth Ann Tormey and husband Grant of Bridgewater; three brothers, Gilbert E. Cheney of Barnegat, Robert M. Cheney of Robbinsville and Gary F. Cheney of Arizona and two grandchildren, Kate and Claire.
A memorial service for Allan will be held on Sunday, March 18 at 2:00 PM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street in New Egypt (www.tilghmanfh.com).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Allan’s memory can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
