Obituary of Doris Watson

Doris Watson, age 62, of Fort Belvoir, VA died Monday, March 2 at the INOVA Cancer Treatment Hospital in Alexandria, VA. She gave a life time of selfless service to our Nation, warm compassion to all that knew her, and over 27 years of inspiration to husband, family, extended family and all her friends. Doris was a global citizen and served beside two husbands and a son that honorably and faithfully served the United States of America for over one half of a century. She served along side her husband and walked with him hand-in-hand to achieve huge success at Fort Dix, NJ; Presidio of San Francisco, CA; Kaiserslautern, Germany; Patrick Air Force Base, FL & Cape Canaveral, FL; Camp Zama, Japan; Heidelberg, Germany; Fort Campbell, KY and twice to the Washington, DC area at Fort Belvoir, VA. Her steadfast service and commitment to our country for loyalty, dedication and faithful allegiance to the United States Army and our country for over 28 years had been personally recognized by the HON John Warner, former Chairman, Senate Armed Services Committee, Washington, DC. She was a strong supporter of the United Nations, international peace, world health, regional security and fought against poverty by always lending a helping hand to those in need or destitute. Her unique gift of creativity enabled her to bring beauty to all those around her with floral arrangements, knitting handicraft, interior d?cor or artistic advice to capture refinements in the natural world. She will be forever remembered in our lives, hearts, minds and souls of all those that she encountered. She was truly our devout and divine ?Guardian Angel? and ?Always at my Side to Guard and Guide?. Survivors include: a husband, Kent T. Watson of Fort Belvoir, VA; her sons, Larry Simmons, Jr. of Highgate Center, VT and Robert L. Simmons of North Hanover Twp., NJ; her sister, Linda Beahn of Browns Mills, NJ and extended family. Funeral and interment services will be held on Monday, March 9 at 2:30 PM at the Chapel of the BGWCD Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road in Wrightstown. Calling hours will be on Monday from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 PM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street in New Egypt (www.tilghmanfh.com).
