Charles A. ?Al? Gordon, age 74, of Lake Lauderdale, NY died Sunday, April 5 at home. Born in Hamilton Square, he was an area resident before moving to New York 20 years ago. Al served in the United States Navy from 1955 to 1957 and then returned home to New Jersey to farm. He also repaired farm equipment. Al was a member of the Hamilton Grange #79 and also the Pamona Grange #5. Twenty years ago the family moved to Cambridge, NY and became the owners and managers of the Lake Lauderdale Campground. Al served on the Jackson Planning Board and the Shushan Covered Bridge Museum Board and also was a member of the Campground Owners of New York. Son of the late Elison R. and Catherine (Hausser) Gordon; he is survived by his wife of 45 years, Joan (Potter) Gordon; a son and daughter-in-law, Douglas G. and Joy Gordon of Shushan, NY; two grandchildren, Alex Rich and Arek D. Gordon; a brother, Elison R. Gordon, Jr. and wife Dorothy of Granville, NY; a sister, Carrie G. South of Shushan, NY; an uncle, Edgar L. Gordon of Boca Raton, FL and several cousins. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 10 at 1:00 PM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street in New Egypt, NJ (www.tilghmanfh.com). Interment will follow in the Jacobstown Cemetery in Jacobstown, NJ. Calling hours will be on Friday morning from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the funeral home.
