Obituary of Donna M. Simonson Resto

Donna M. Simonson Resto, age 52, of Wrightstown died Saturday, May 16 at Centra State Medical Center in Freehold. She was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer on May 23, 2008 and fought bravely for almost a year. She was the loving mother of Kira, 10 years old and Jesse, 14 years old. Donna was born in Long Branch and lived in Morganville for many years, graduating from Marlboro, NJ High School, Class of 1975. She lived in Cookstown for the past 2 years and previously lived in Cream Ridge and Jackson. Donna loved animals. She bred cocker spaniel dogs and also had miniature horses and doves. Donna loved people, gardening, religious stories and music. She taught CCD class for the Church of the Assumption in New Egypt. Donna was predeceased by her mother, Ann Simonson. She is survived by her two children, Kira and Jesse; her father, William Simonson of Whiting; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Karen and John Wanskus of Colts Neck and Dawn and Michael Suarez of Jackson; two brothers, Billy Simonson of Freehold and Scott Simonson of Woodbridge and two nephews, Shane and Shawn Simonson. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 20 at 11:00 AM at the Church of the Assumption, 76 Evergreen Road in New Egypt, with Father Joseph Farrell, officiating. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery in New Egypt. Calling hours will be on Tuesday evening, May 19 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM and again on Wednesday morning from 9:00 to 10:30 AM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street in New Egypt (www.tilghmamfh.com.).
