Robert Henry McDonald, age 79, died peacefully at Haven Hospice at JFK Medical Center in Edison on Monday, February 5. Mr. McDonald was born on June 20, 1927 in Jersey City, NJ and spent many years on the west coast. He returned to New Jersey in 2005 and was a resident of the Veterans Memorial Home in Menlo Park. He served in the Air Force from 1945 to 1948. Bob was a gifted artist, who studied at the Newark School of Commercial Art and was an avid reader. You knew he thought you were special if you were invited into the ?McDonald Clan?. Bob was the beloved son of the late Annie (Harty) and Thomas Henry McDonald and beloved brother of the late Mary, Cathleen, Richard, Edward and Walter. He is survived by his sisters, Ann Holme of Delran, Patricia DeCastro and husband Louis of Long Branch and Jeanette Tracy and husband Thomas of Chatham; his brothers, Thomas McDonald of Wakefield, MA and John McDonald of Basking Ridge and many nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held on Thursday, February 8 from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street in New Egypt (www.tilghmanfh.com), with funeral services at 1:30 PM. Burial with military honors will follow at the BGWCD Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Arneytown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bob?s name can be made to Haven Hospice at JFK Medical Center, 65 James Street, Edison, NJ 08818.
