Michael Popp of Whiting passed away July 16, 2009 at Community Medical Center in Toms River. He was 72. Michael was born in Florence, NJ, formerly was a longtime resident of Browns Mills and had lived in Whiting the past 10 years. He was a member of the American Legion in New Egypt. Michael enjoyed spending time with the guys at the Legion. He had worked for Herman?s Trucking in New Egypt for twenty plus years. Michael was an avid NASCAR fan; he enjoyed fishing, crabbing and playing bingo. He was pre-deceased by his son Michael Popp Jr. and his brother George Popp. Michael is survived by his wife of 41 years Dorothy Popp (nee-Matto); two daughters Debra & Gene Otting of Tennessee and Misty & Brian Kilgore of Browns Mills; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother and three sisters, all of Florida. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday July 21st at 8PM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main St., New Egypt (Tilghmanfh.com). Relatives and Friends may visit with the family Tuesday evening from 6-8PM at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
