George Green, age 90, of Cookstown died Thursday, October 1 at his residence. Born in New Hanover Township, he was a lifetime area resident. George was an Army Veteran of World War II, serving in Germany, Africa and Sicily and was a Prisoner of War for 2 years. He was a retired inspector for McGuire AFB working there for 34 years. George was predeceased by his first wife, Evelyn Green; sons, Harry & Robert Green; brothers, Elmer Jr., Charles, Harold & Stanley Green and a step-daughter, Marion R. Sinwich. He is survived by his wife, Helen Green of Hamilton; a daughter, Edna Bridge and husband Donald of North Berwick, Maine; two step-sons, Ralph Furth, Jr. and wife Stephanie of Florida and Michael Furth of Cookstown; three step-daughters, Bonnie Nixon and husband Dave of Deltona, FL, Vicki Gavenda and husband Donald of Hamilton Square and Wanda Furth of Trenton; a brother, Alfred Green of Cookstown; six sisters, Mary Reed of Pennsville, Dorothy Hopkins of Browns Mills, Rae Harker of Cream Ridge, Dolores Anderson of Browns Mills, Janet Loafer of Delran and Shirley Graffer of NJ; many grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held of Monday, October 5 at 11:00 AM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street in New Egypt (www.tilghmanfh.com), with burial to follow in the Jacobstown Baptist Cemetery in Jacobstown. Calling hours will be on Monday morning from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
