Eugene A. Vereb, age 80, of North Hanover Twp. died Thursday, January 21 at Samaritan Hospice in Mount Holly. Born in Trenton, he was a resident of North Hanover for the past 45 years and formerly of Hedding and Trenton. Gene was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp serving from 1946 to 1948 and called back in 1950. He was a graduate of Rider College and also retired from the State of New Jersey working last in the Student Loan Office. Gene was a longtime member of the Northern Burlington Jr-Sr High School School Board, he served as Civil Defense Director of North Hanover Township and actively participated in the formation of recreational activities for North Hanover Township. Gene is survived by his wife of 55 years, Bernice (Ora) Vereb; two sons and daughters-in-law, Peter and Cindy Vereb of North Hanover and John and Jill Vereb of Princeton Junction; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Lewis E. Tepel III of North Hanover and four grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 26 at 9:30 AM at the Church of the Assumption, 76 Evergreen Road in New Egypt with burial to follow in the BGWCD Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Arneytown. Calling hours will be on Tuesday morning from 8:15 to 9:15 AM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street in New Egypt (www.tilghmanfh.com).
