John J. Lenceski, age 89, of New Egypt passed away Saturday, April 3, 2010 at home with his loving family constantly at his side. He was born on February 14, 1921 in Cutchogue, NY, son of Joseph and Josephine Lenceski and was a resident of New Egypt since 1955. John was retired from the US Air Force after 26 years of service. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in France and Germany. John was an avid golfer and enjoyed fishing, crabbing and clamming with his two brothers Edward and Frank and six sisters Mary, Ann, Helen, Katherine, Dorothy and Theresa. He enjoyed antique cars and gardening. Heart felt memories include his gentle loving nature, beautiful smile and abundant love for his family. John was happiest surrounded by his children and every new baby he was blessed to share his life with. John was predeceased by a daughter, Jacqueline Jean Doyle and a son-in-law, Ronald Gilbert. He is survived with great love by his wife of 62 years, Jacqueline Wilczek Lenceski, his war bride from Bouligny, France. John is also survived by two daughters, Mary Ellen Hassell and husband Paul of Chepachet, RI and Diana Lee Gilbert and fianc? Steve Affleck of Pennington, NJ; a son-in-law, Basil Doyle of New Egypt; seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial for John will be held on Thursday, April 8 at 10:00 AM at the Church of the Assumption, 76 Evergreen Road in New Egypt, with Father Joseph Farrell officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the BGWCD Veterans Memorial Cemetery in North Hanover Twp. Calling hours for John will be on Wednesday evening, April 7 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM and again on Thursday morning from 8:45 to 9:45 AM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street in New Egypt (www.tilghmanfh.com). Due to cemetery restrictions, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in John?s memory may be made to St. Jude Children?s Research Hospital, P. O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142 (www.stjude.org).
