Gwendolyn S. Huss, age 81, of Whiting died Wednesday, April 28 at her residence. Born in New Egypt, she lived there until moving to Whiting 9 years ago. Gwen had worked as a postal clerk at the New Egypt Post Office for 36 years. She was a member of the Cookstown United Methodist Church, a member of the Bordentown Chapter of the Eastern Star, a past grand-officer with the Eastern Star, a past grand-matron with the Sphinx Chapter of the Eastern Star, a longtime volunteer at the Masonic Home in Burlington and a former member of the New Egypt Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. Gwen was predeceased by her husband Thomas F. Huss and a brother, Jackie Spence. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Ed Steele of Whiting and Jacqueline and Gene Hale of Ottsville, PA; a brother, Jim Spence of New Egypt; seven grandchildren, Micki Allen, Thomas Steele, William Steele and wife Melissa; Melissa Allen, Meredith Chepolis and husband Paul, Brian Steele and Kate Allen and six great grandchildren, Craig, Billy and Jessica Steele, Jac Allen-Lynn and Andraya and Parker Chepolis. Funeral services for Gwen will be held on Monday, May 3 at 11:00 AM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street in New Egypt (www.tilghmanfh.com), with burial to follow in the Jacobstown Baptist Cemetery in Jacobstown. Calling hours will be on Sunday evening, May 2 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM and again on Monday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in Gwen?s memory may be made to the Hunterdon Regional Cancer Center, 2100 Wescott Drive, Flemington, NJ 08822.
