Obituary of Louis Joseph DeSimon

Louis Joseph DeSimon, age 74, of Whiting died Thursday, October 21 at Deborah Heart & Lung Center in Browns Mills. Born in Jersey City, he was a resident of Bayonne before moving to Whiting in 2003. Lou was a veteran of the US Navy, serving from 1957-1961 aboard the USS Little Rock. He was a retired insurance adjuster for Hudson Appraisal in Jersey City and most recently worked as a ranger for the Woodlake Country Club in Lakewood. Lou was an avid and skillful golfer and bowled in the bowling league at Ocean Lanes in Brick. He was a wonderful father and hero to his children and will be greatly missed and fondly remembered. Lou was predeceased by his parents, Lucy and Michael ?Sonny? DeSimon and by a brother, Michael DeSimon. He is survived by a daughter, Alexandra Benedict and husband Lt. Col. John Benedict II of Virginia; a son Stephen Louis DeSimon of Spotswood, NJ; two brothers, Nicolas DeSimon and Ed DeSimon both of Brick and a grandson, Tyler Benedict. Funeral services for Lou will be held on Tuesday, October 26 at 9:45 AM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street in New Egypt (www.tilghmanfh.com), with burial to follow in the BGWCD Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown. Calling hours will be on Tuesday morning from 9:00 AM until the service time at the funeral home. Due to cemetery restrictions, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Lou?s memory may be made to the Deborah Hospital Foundation, 20 Pine Mill Road, Browns Mills, NJ 08015 (www.deborah.org).
