Edel H. Marone, age 93, of New Egypt, NJ, formerly of Freeport, NY died Monday, December 27 at RWJ University in Hamilton, NJ. Born in Stavanger, Norway, she was a resident of Freeport for 67 years before moving to New Egypt 5 years ago. Edel was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church in Freeport, a member of the church?s Altar Guild, a former member of the Freeport Village Board of Governors, Election Board and Beautification Committee. Edel was predeceased by her husband, Andrew A. Marone, a son, Ralph A. Marone, a brother, Louis Hauge and a sister, Sylvia Staryk. She is survived by a daughter, Andre Lyons and husband Paul of New Egypt; her grandchildren, Patrick Marone, Matthew Lyons and wife Alison, Jonathan Lyons and wife Laurie , Amanda Lyons and Ron Shiber, two great grandsons, Matthew Lyons, Jr. and Andrew Braxton Lyons, a sister-in-law, Alice Hauge, and five neices and nephews. Funeral services for Edel will be held on Tuesday, January 4 at 10:00 AM at Christ Lutheran Church, 61 N. Grove Street in Freeport, NY with burial to follow in Greenfield Cemetery in Hempstead, NY. Calling hours will be on Monday, January 3 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Hungerford and Clark Funeral Home, 110 Pine Street, Freeport, NY 11520.
