Gertrude V. ?Gertie? Walker, age 94, of New Egypt died Wednesday, April 13 at Samaritan Hospice in Mount Holly. Born in New Egypt, she was a lifetime area resident. Gertie was a retired bus driver for the Plumsted Township Board of Education and also had worked at Hartman?s Pharmacy in New Egypt. She was a member of the New Egypt United Methodist Church and the New Egypt Historical Society. Gertie was predeceased by her husband Irving Walker and her six siblings. She is survived by two sons, Rex Walker and wife Carol of Ship Bottom and Craig Walker of Westminster, MD; a daughter, Suzanne Madson and husband Jac of North Hanover Twp.; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. As per Gertie?s request, there will be no funeral services. Arrangements are under the direction of the Tilghman Funeral Home in New Egypt (www.tilghmanfh.com).
