Verna Ivins, age 78, of Cookstown died on Wednesday, August 3 at Cooper University Hospital in Camden. Born in Cookstown, she was a lifetime resident. Verna worked at the New Hanover Township municipal office for 20 years. She had been a member of the Cookstown Vol. Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary for 54 years and was also a member of the Republican Club of New Hanover. Verna was predeceased by her aunt & uncle who raised her, Florence and Joe Horner; her husband, George W. Ivins and two brothers, Roy and Don Miller. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, George and Karen Ivins of Cookstown; a daughter and son-in-law, JoAnne and Michael Ream of Cookstown; two brothers, Ron Miller of North Hanover and Joe Miller of Cookstown; two grandchildren, Walter and Joseph Ivins and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Verna will be held on Tuesday, August 9 at 11:00 AM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street in New Egypt (www.tilghmanfh.com), with burial to follow in the Jacobstown Baptist Cemetery in Jacobstown.
