Obituary of Edwin C. Halpin

Edwin C. ?Ed? Halpin, age 75, of Wrightstown died Tuesday, August 30 at Samaritan Hospice in Mount Holly. Born in New Egypt, he was a lifetime area resident. Ed served in the New Jersey Army National Guard and worked as a heavy equipment mechanic and retired as a Sergeant First Class after 40 years. He was a member of the Plumsted Presbyterian Church in New Egypt and a former member of both the New Egypt Fire Co. and the Hope Fire Co. in Allentown. Ed was predeceased by his parents, George and Verna (Johnson) Halpin, a brother, George Halpin and a sister, Joy Youmans. He is survived by his wife, Shirley (nee Borden) Halpin; a son, Vernon Arthur Halpin of Bayville; two daughters, Valerie Jean Antrobus of New Egypt and Vicki L. Elkins of Wrightstown; four sisters, Helen Walton of New Egypt, Ruth Archer of Point Pleasant, Peggy Bauman of New Egypt and Bonnie Golden of Trenton, a half-brother, Robert Randleman of North Carolina; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Ed will be held on Friday, September 2 at 10:30 AM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street in New Egypt (www.tilghmanfh.com), with burial to follow in the BGWCD Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Arneytown. Calling hours will be on Thursday evening, September 1 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
