Obituary of Alexander J. Burns

Alexander J. Burns, age 91, of Wrightstown died Sunday, November 27 at the Mercerville Center in Mercerville. Born in Burlington, VT he was a resident of Wrightstown for the past 16 years and formerly of Cream Ridge. Al was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Marine Corps. He was in the 4th Marine Division and fought at the Battle of Iwo Jima. Al was retired from American Standard in Trenton where he worked as a potter. Al is survived by his wife of 71 years, Mildred B. Burns; a son, Alexander Burns, Jr. and wife Bonnie of Princeton Junction; two daughters, Theresa Barth and husband David and Gail Harshall and husband Gary all of Graysville, PA; five grandchildren including a special granddaughter, Tammy who assisted greatly with the care of her grandparents and several great grandchildren. A memorial service for Al will be held on Monday, December 5 at 10:30 AM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street in New Egypt (www.tilghmanfh.com), with interment to follow at the BGWCD Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown. Calling hours will be on Monday morning from 10:00 to 10:30 at the funeral home. Due to cemetery restrictions, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Al?s memory may be made to the Marie Toys For Tots Foundation, 18251 Quantico Gateway Drive, Triangle, VA 22172 (www.toysfortots.org).
