Obituary of Stanley W. Sager

Stanley W. “Sandy” Sager, age 83, of New Egypt died Thursday, May 24 at Care One @ Hamilton. Born in Florence, NJ, he was a lifetime New Egypt area resident. Sandy served in the US Army during the Korean War. He retired in 1992 after 32 years with the Ocean County Road Department, mostly at the New Egypt Garage. Sandy was a member of both the American Legion Post 455 and the VFW Post in New Egypt and the Plumsted Presbyterian Church. He was a lifetime pigeon fancier and was a certified judge for fancy pigeons. Sandy also bred and trained thoroughbred race horses for 35 years. Sandy was predeceased his parents, Samuel and Elsie (Hopkins) Sager, three brothers, Melvin, Lester and Richard Sager and a sister, Sara Sager. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Nancy (nee Reynolds) Sager; two daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Rick Jackson of New Egypt and Karen and Bill Chamberlin of Robbinsville; four brothers, Samuel Sager & family of Arneytown, David Sager & family of Wrightstown, Kenneth Sager & family of Columbus and Jesse Sager & family of Mt. Laurel; four sisters, Elsie Sager & family of Mt. Laurel, Rose Zamensky & family of Wrightstown, Sharon Scott & family of Vincentown and Amy Alleys & family of West Virginia. A graveside service for Sandy will be held on Saturday, May 26 at 10:00 AM at the Jacobstown Baptist Cemetery, 49 Jacobstown-Arneytown Road, Jacobstown, NJ 08562. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Sandy’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org). Arrangements are under the direction of the Tilghman Funeral Home in New Egypt (www.tilghmanfh.com).
