Obituary of Gertrude M. Allen

Gertrude M. Allen, age 66, of Whiting died Tuesday, June 5 at Lourdes Medical Center in Willingboro. Born in Allentown, NJ she was a long time resident of New Egypt before moving to Whiting in 2001. Gertrude was a retired banker with Pinnacle Bank in Manchester and she also worked at the Bank of Mid-Jersey in New Egypt for 15 years. She was a member of the New Egypt Vol. Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary, a former member of the American Legion Post 455 Auxiliary in New Egypt and she was involved with the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts in New Egypt, but her greatest joy in life was her grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Gertrude was predeceased by her husband, Glenn T. Allen, a brother, George Housekeeper and a sister, Mabel Notarangelo. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Timothy & Tina Allen of Powder Springs, GA and William & Shelia Allen of New Egypt; five grandchildren, Kyle & Jeffrey Allen of Georgia and Jacob, Joshua & Emma Allen of New Egypt; a brother, Ronald Housekeeper and wife Judy of Georgia; three sisters, Emily Wiberg of Whiting, Bertha Stanziale of Hightstown and Mildred Allen of Saratoga Springs, NY and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Gertrude will be held on Saturday, June 9 at 11:00 AM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street in New Egypt (www.tilghmanfh.com), with burial to follow in Emley’s Hill Cemetery in Cream Ridge. Calling hours will be on Friday evening from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in Gertrude's memory may be made to the New Egypt Vol. Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary, P. O.
