In Loving Memory Of Evelina Alma Bailey Sunrise – November 22, 1938 Sunset – June 2, 2012 Evelina Alma Bailey was born November 22, 1938 to the late Michael V. Major and Frances Major in Belle Glade, Florida. She departed this life on June 2, 2012. Evelina moved from Florida to Browns Mills, NJ where she attended elementary school, then later moved to Lakehurst, NJ and met the love of her life, her late husband Allen Bailey, Sr. They married on June 15, 1957, relocated to Cream Ridge, NJ and had six children, Charlotte, Karen, Allen, Jr., Martin, Sherri and Travis. Evelina obtained her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and secured employment with the Ocean County Board of Social Services. Evelina was greatly loved by all who knew her and she had a memorable impact on many lives. She dedicated her time and caring heart to share her wisdom and cooking for everyone. She was respectfully called “Grandmom” by all of the neighborhood kids. She raised her own granddaughter Nicole Bailey Warthen from three months old. Evelina became a member of Christ Baptist Church and she occasionally brought grandchildren and great-grandchildren to attend services. Evelina Bailey leaves many cherished memories. She is survived by three daughters and three sons, Charlotte L. Bailey of Cream Ridge, NJ, Karen E. Bailey of Lakewood, NJ, Allen A. Bailey, Jr. (Denise) of Houston, TX, Martin T. Bailey (Theresa) of Lakewood, NJ, Sherri D. Bailey of Wrightstown, NJ and Travis D. Bailey (Anjennete) of Cream Ridge, NJ; three sisters and one brother, Margaret C. Major of Lakehurst, NJ, Elmira F. Major of Berlin, NJ, Gloria Jean Parrish (William Parrish) of Lakehurst, NJ and Alfred W. Major of Lakehurst, NJ; two sisters-in-law, Sandra F. Brown of Cream Ridge, NJ and Gloria J. Hoy of Maryland; fourteen grandchildren, Shawniqua, Nicole, Octavia, Josh, Keith, Letetia, Melissa, Tanesha, Nicholas, Bryanna, Travis, Jr., Norman, Jr., Kyeem and Amanda; twenty-eight great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and loved ones. Funeral services for Evelina will be held on Friday, June 8 at 11:00 AM at the Christ Baptist Church, 950 Jacksonville Road, Burlington, NJ 08016 with the viewing from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the church. Burial will take place at the BGWCD Veterans Memorial Cemetery in North Hanover Twp., NJ beside her beloved husband.
