Evelyn M. Hill, age 88, a former resident of Columbus, NJ died on Thursday, September 20 in Springfield, IL after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Born in New York City, she lived in East Brunswick and worked for many years at Rutgers University in New Brunswick before retiring to Columbus. Evelyn was a devout Catholic and a devoted mother and wife. She enjoyed a good crossword or word search. Once retired, she was a frequent traveler and played many sports including golf, tennis, swimming, and bowling. Evelyn was predeceased by her husband William (Bill) Hill. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Holly and Phil Conforti of Parlin; a daughter and son-in-law, Elisa and John Ringle of Springfield, IL; a son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Lynn Hill of Jacksonville, FL; and four grandchildren, Amanda and Jillian Conforti and Maximilian and Kaitlin Hill. A burial service will be held on Wednesday, September 26 at 11:30 AM at the Chapel of the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road, Wrightstown, NJ 08562 under the direction of the Tilghman Funeral Home in New Egypt (www.tilghmanfh.com).
