Edward L. Reading, Jr., age 92, of Cream Ridge died Sunday, January 28 at the John L. Montgomery Care Center in Freehold. Born in Bristol, PA, he had been a resident of Cream Ridge since 1971. Ed was a retired refrigeration engineer for Swift & Co. and City Beef Co., both in Trenton. He was a member of the Cookstown United Methodist Church in Cookstown. Ed was pre-deceased by his first wife, Wilma Reading and a step-daughter, Shirley White; he is survived by his wife, Violet Reading of Cream Ridge; two sons and daughters-in-law, Edward & Carol Reading III of Fallsington, PA and David & Annette Reading of Detroit, MI; a step-daughter, Nancy Phillips & husband David of Evelets, MN; a sister, Katherine Steiner of Conners, GA; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 1 at 1:00 PM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street in New Egypt with Rev. Norman Eckley, officiating. Interment will follow in the Ewing Cemetery in Ewing. Calling hours will be on Thursday from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 PM at the funeral home.
