North Hanover Twp – Galen W. “Mac” McCreary, 74, passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at Virtua Memorial Hospital in Mount Holly. Born in Johnstown, Pa., he has been a resident of Jacobstown for the past 31 years. Galen was a Viet Nam veteran and a retired Major of the U.S. Air Force. He was a retired Meteorologist/Public Admin., retired State of NJ DEP. He was a graduate and instructor at Burlington County Fire Academy, A graduate of various Military and Fire Science courses. He was a graduate of Penn State and Juniata State College. He held many Advanced Degrees in Mathematics; he taught at Lyons Tech, Pennco Tech and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical Institute. He was a member of the Jacobstown Volunteer Fire Co., a Mason for 41 yrs.,Scottish Rite, Shriners and Knights Templar. He is predeceased by his father and mother, Forest and Margaret (Shilling) McCreary; his wife, Mary Marilyn McCreary. He is survived by his son, David McCreary (Dawn-fiancee); a nephew and spouse, David Gindlesperger (Frances); one grandson, Nicholas. Funeral services will be held 11am, Friday, December 28, 2012 at the Jacobstown Volunteer Fire Co., 86 Jacobstown-Chesterfield Road, Wrightstown, N.J. 08562. Burial will follow in the Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Provinceline Rd.. Arneytown, N.J. Relatives and friends may call on Thursday from 6 to 9pm at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street, New Egypt, N.J. 08533.
