Obituary of James Richard Plummer

James R. Plummer, age 65, of New Egypt died Monday, February 11 at his residence. Born in Bridgeton, NJ, he was a resident of New Egypt since 1995 and formerly lived in Westampton.
Jim served with the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1970. He graduated from the Florida Institute of Technology and was employed as a research scientist for the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection for 33 years, recently retiring.
Jim was very active in his children’s sports, serving as a coach for the Plumsted Township Youth Soccer, the president and coach of the New Egypt Girl’s Softball and an assistant coach for the Allentown Girl’s Soccer. He also served on the Plumsted Township Planning Board and was the President of the Country Acres Homeowner’s Association. Jim was a Bible Scholar, attending the Southern California Center for Christian Study and enjoyed Biblical Theology and discussing the Bible. But always the most important thing in Jim’s life was his family.
Jim was predeceased by a son, Sean Paul Plummer in 2002 and by his father, Warren Plummer. He is survived by his wife, Donna (Dahlgren) Plummer, two daughters, Ashley Capicotto and her fiancé Henry Berkebile III of Manchester and Krysta Plummer of New Egypt; his mother, Isabell Plummer of Colorado; a sister, Shirley McHenry of Aurora, CO; two grandchildren, Henry Berkebile IV and Aryonna Berkebile and three nephews, Shad, Kalli and Sasha.
A visitation for Jim will be held on Saturday, February 16 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street in New Egypt (www.tilghmanfh.com), where there will be a time for family and friends to share their remembrances of Jim at 5:30 PM. Interment for Jim with Marine Corps honors will be held on Wednesday, February 20 at 3:00 PM at the Chapel of the BGWCD Veterans Memorial Cemetery in North Hanover Township. His son Sean will also be buried on Wednesday with him. Please meet at the Funeral Home at 2:30 PM on Wednesday to drive to the cemetery in procession.
