Obituary of Mildred V. Horahan

Mildred V. Horahan, age 97, of New Egypt died Tuesday, March 26 at the Mercerville Center in Mercerville. Born in Cream Ridge, she was a resident of New Egypt before moving to Mercerville eight years ago. Mildred worked as a secretary at McGuire AFB and also for Dr. Green in New Egypt. She was a parishioner at the Church of the Assumption in New Egypt and was a member of the Rosary Altar Society. She attended daily Mass after retirement and enjoyed knitting, crocheting and reading and was an animal lover. But the most important thing in her life was her family, especially her grandchildren. Mildred was predeceased by her husband, William Horahan, Sr. and by a brother, George Emley. She is survived by a son, William Horahan, Jr. and wife Shelia of Chesterfield; a daughter, Edith Hill of Acton, MA; five grandchildren, Melanie Horahan, Katie Horahan, Christina Hill, Spencer Hill and Timothy Hill; six great grandchildren, Alicia Hill, Katherine Vaillancourt, Alex Hill, Madalyn Hill, Cameron Hill and Addison Hill and a great great grandchild, Rylan Rosenthal. Funeral services for Mildred will be held on Saturday, March 30 at 11:00 AM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street in New Egypt (www.tilghmanfh.com). Calling hours will be on Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and again on Saturday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mildred’s name may be made to The Friends of the Plumsted Library, 119 Evergreen Road, New Egypt, NJ 08533.
