Obituary of Paul E. Elliott

Paul E. Elliott, age 91, of St. Augustine, FL died Wednesday, February 14 at home. Born is Salisbury, MD, he had lived in New Egypt for 46 years before moving to Florida. Paul was retired from the U.S. Air Force after 22 years of service. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War and was a Pearl Harbor survivor, serving with the U.S. Army at Wheeler Field in Hawaii. He was awarded the Bronze Star and the U.S. Air Force Commendation Medals among several others. After his military service, Paul worked for the Civil Service (Air Force) until retiring in 1974. Mr. Elliott was a member and Past President of the American Legion Post 455 and a member of the VFW Post 599, both in New Egypt. He was a member of the St. Augustine Chapter 33, National Association for Active and Retired Federal Employees and the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association Northeast Florida Chapter 6. Husband of the late Ruth (Andrews) Elliott who died in 1996, Paul is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Patricia Elliott of Yardley, PA; two daughters and a son-in-law, Paula Elliott of Manalapan, NJ and Nancy and Joseph Soltis of St. Augustine, FL; a sister, Mildred Heffler of Salisbury, MD; a very special friend, Mildred Tragemann; five grandchildren, Deanna Soltis, Nicole Soltis, Amanda Sanders and husband Chris, Michael Elliott and Michelle Elliott and two great grandchildren, Victoria Soltis and Christopher K. Sanders. Interment services will be held on Friday, February 16 at 12:30 PM at the Chapel of the BGWCD Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Road in Wrightstown. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street in New Egypt (www.tilghmanfh.com).
