Obituary of Dorothy G. Ivins

Dorothy G. Ivins, age 89, of New Egypt died Friday, February 16 at Centra State Medical Center in Freehold. Born in Philadelphia, she was raised by Charles and Lydia Gibbs in Trenton and she was a resident of New Egypt since 1948, coming from Cookstown. Dot was a member, deacon and Sunday School Teacher at the Plumsted Presbyterian Church in New Egypt. She was a member of the American Legion Post 455 Auxiliary and the New Egypt Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary. She was a Elkmate at the New Egypt Elks Chapter 2457, a member of the New Egypt Chapter of Deborah and was a Den Mother for the New Egypt Cub Scouts. Wife of the late Kenneth E. Ivins, Dot is survived by two sons, Kenneth C. Ivins of New Egypt and Paul R. Ivins and wife Linda of Newark, DE; three grandchildren, Scott Ivins of New Egypt, Steven Ivins of North Wilmington, DE and Susan Ivins of Newark, DE; step-grandchildren, James and Christine MacMicking of Newark, DE; a sister, Lydia Burniston of Trenton and her former daughter-in-law, Fran Lake of Pierson, FL. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 19 at 11:00 AM at the Plumsted Presbyterian Church, 14 Front Street in New Egypt with Rev. William Walker, officiating. Interment will be in the Jacobstown Baptist Cemetery in Jacobstown. Calling hours will be on Sunday, February 18 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street in New Egypt (www.tilghmanfh.com).
