Obituary of Patricia Ann Cheney

Patricia Ann (Fish) Cheney of New Egypt, NJ, died October 29th surrounded by family and friends. Born in Mt. Holly, NJ, Pat grew up in Hopewell, NJ after spending 5 years in Japan as a child, during the Occupation following WWII. Pat went to Princeton High School where she was active in the Student Council, the Chorus and was a Drum Majorette. She attended Cooper School of Nursing. Pat married Allan Cheney II in 1963, and they lived in Ewing and Cranbury before moving to New Egypt in 1992. She worked as an RN at Princeton Hospital, and later for the PRO of NJ for over 25 years. She was active in East Windsor politics in the 80’s and 90’s, as well as volunteering for the SOS organization in New Egypt after her retirement. Pat was an avid race fan, having both a husband and son who were dirt track drivers. Any given weekend you could find her in the stands at East Windsor or New Egypt, or watching a NASCAR race with friends. Pat loved to read, and write poetry, and to travel. She and Al went on many cruises and driving adventures together. Pat is predeceased by her parents Harvey K. and Dorothy (Spearman) Fish, her brother Kenneth Fish, and her beloved husband Allan Cheney II. She is survived by her children Patti Lynn Cheney of Baltimore MD, Beth Ann Tormey and husband Grant of Bound Brook NJ, and Allan Cheney III and wife Stephanie of New Egypt NJ; two sisters Linda Ketchersid of Newtown PA, and Jean Hunt of Pennington NJ, and two grandchildren, Kate and Claire Tormey. A memorial service will be held for Pat at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street, New Egypt, New Jersey (www.tilghmanfh.com) on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 6 pm. Calling hours will be from 5 to 6 pm preceeding the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Pat’s memory can be made to the donor’s choice.
