Lorenzo Whitfield, age 80, of Maple Shade, passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at the Palace Care Center in Maple Shade. Born in Dillon, SC he lived in North Hanover Twp. from 1979 to 2009, and in South Carolina and Maple Shade for the past 4 years. Lorenzo was employed by the US Air Force for 28 years and actively served in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars before retiring. After his military retirement he worked in civil service for the Air Force. Predeceased by his wife Barbara June in 1992, Lorenzo is survived by his son William of Mt. Laurel; 2 daughters, Susan (Robert) Albright of Swedesboro; and Cynthia Powell (John Chapman), of Mt. Pleasant, SC; a sister, Anna (Andrew) Graves of Dillon, SC; and 2 grandchildren, Benjamin and Nathan Chapman. Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 from 6-8pm at Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street, New Egypt, NJ 08533. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday January 8, 2014 at 12noon at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Brig. Gen. WC Doyle Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. (www.tilghmanfh.com)
