Benton H. “Butch” Smith, Jr., age 73, of Bayville, NJ passed away on Friday, February 7, 2014 at Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune.
Born June 3, 1940 in Muncy, PA, he was the son of the late Benton H. Smith, Sr. and Elizabeth (nee Schenck) Smith. A 1959 graduate of New Brunswick High School, Mr. Smith moved to Bayville in 1964 and was retired from the US Postal Service in New Brunswick. He enjoyed leisurely walks and watching TV.
Benton is survived by two sisters, Priscilla Gibson of Easton, PA and Phyllis Anne Prytula and husband Michael of Elizabethtown, NC; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Edgar A. and Marita Smith of Salina, KS and Ned E. and Sandra Smith of New Egypt, NJ; seven nieces and nephews; seven great nieces and great nephews; many cousins and a good friend, John Drysdale.
Funeral services and interment are private at the convenience of the family under the direction of the Tilghman Funeral Home in New Egypt, NJ (www.tilghmanfh.com).
