Evelyn C. Scudder
TRENTON – Evelyn C. Scudder, 67 passed away on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014 at Capital Health Helene Fuld Hospital, Trenton.
Born in Trenton, she was raised in New Egypt and was a resident of Bordentown at the time of her death. A graduate of Allentown High School class of 1964, she went on to graduate as a RN from Mountainside Hospital School of Nursing, Montclair, NJ in 1967. Throughout her career as a RN from 1967-1983 she worked in Princeton, NJ, Doylestown, PA, Jacksonville, AR, Santa Maria, CA and Hamilton Square, NJ.
Married in 1968 to Thomas W. Scudder, Hamilton Square, NJ, she was a loving wife, a proud military spouse and a devoted mother and grandmother. She enjoyed life to the fullest and loved traveling, ballroom dancing, the theater, home remodeling, watching NFL football ,going to PGA golf tournaments and most of all being there to help her children and grandchildren whenever and wherever she was needed.
Daughter of the late Edward Van Horn and Dorothy (Harris) Van Horn she is survived by her husband of 45 years, Thomas W. Scudder of Bordentown, son Mathew C. Scudder of Yardville, daughter Amanda (Michael) McElwain of North Hanover Township, grandchildren Gabriel and Abigail Scudder, Audrey and Grayson McElwain, a brother Thomas E. (Barbara) Van Horn of Robbinsville, a brother-in-law Edward E. Scudder of Griffin, GA, a sister-in-law Cynthia (Scudder) Streck of Chantilly, Va, several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and a dear lifelong friend Natalie Yacyk of Aston, PA. She was beloved by family and friends and will be sadly missed by all.
A Memorial service will be held on Sunday, Feb 23 at the New Egypt United Methodist Church, Atkinson Hall, 38 N. Main St, New Egypt, NJ. Visiting hours will be 2:00-3:30pm with the service following immediately after. Interment will be held privately and at the convenience of the family.
