Willie M. Lewis, age 50, of McGuire AFB died Sunday, April 27, 2014 at home. Born in Uniontown, Alabama, he was a resident of McGuire AFB since 2006. Willie served in the US Air Force for 24 years, retiring in 2012 with the rank of Master Sergeant. He received many awards for his military service, including the Meritorious Service Medal with 1 oak leaf cluster and the Air Force Commendation Medal with 2 oak leaf clusters. Willie also was employed at the Home Depot in Westampton as the outside garden manager. Willie was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Mamie Lewis. He is survived by his wife, Dionne (nee Freeman) Lewis; a son, Michael Lewis, a step-daughter, Alysia Freeman and a grandchild, Jajuan Freeman all of McGuire AFB; four brothers, Henry Lewis, Carlton Lewis, Robert Lewis and Marvin Lewis; two sisters, Mamie Renee Lewis and Sandra James and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services for Willie will be held on Friday, May 2 at 11:00 AM at the McGuire AFB North Chapel, 3827 Schoolhouse Road at McGuire AFB, NJ with burial with Air Force Honors to follow at the BGWCD Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown. Calling hours will be on Thursday evening May 1 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street, New Egypt, NJ 08533 (www.tilghmanfh.com).
