Phyllis A. Hemphill, age 76, of New Egypt died Friday, May 16 at her residence. Born in Natrona Heights, PA she was a resident of Browns Mills before moving to New Egypt in 1985.
Phyllis was a member of the Church of the Assumption, she enjoyed bowling in the Thunderbird Lanes bowling league and loved to crochet and knit but most of all she loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Phyllis was predeceased by her parents, James and Elizabeth Loynd, a sister, Alicia Loynd and by a granddaughter, Sarah Weakly. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Thomas S. Hemphill; two sons, Tom Quasey and wife Shelly of Pittsburgh, PA and James Hemphill and wife Cindy of Old Bridge; three daughters, Kimberly Hemphill of Browns Mills, Tammy Harper and husband Larry of Chesterfield and Teresa Hemphill-Hopkins and husband Tom of Las Vegas, NV; two brothers, Richard Loynd of Florida and Dr. Robert Loynd of St. Louis, MO; ten grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Phyllis will be held on Wednesday, May 21 at 1:30 PM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street, New Egypt, NJ 08533 (www.tilghmanfh.com), with burial to follow in the BGWCD Veterans Memorial Cemetery in North Hanover Twp. Calling hours will be on Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
Due to cemetery restrictions, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Phyllis’ name may be made to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org).
