Joan M. Cassidy, age 76, of New Egypt passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, May 31 with courage and grace after an extended illness. Born in Manhattan, NY, she was a resident of East Windsor for 35 years before moving to New Egypt a year ago to be with her daughter when Joan became ill. Joan had worked as a receptionist at Genesis Health Care in Cranbury. The most important thing in Joan’s life was her family, especially her grandchildren. Joan was predeceased by her parents, Timothy J. and Christina (O’Riordan) Buckley and by a sister, Anne Buckley. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Keith Burr of New Egypt; two sons, John Cassidy and wife Theresa of Omaha, NE and Kevin Cassidy also of Omaha; two brothers, Dennis Buckley of White Plains, NY and John Buckley and wife Helen of Largo, FL; 14 grandchildren, Ernie, Anthony, Joseph, Timothy, Cassidy, and Jack Burr, John, Lauren, Andrew, Stephen and Joseph Cassidy and Colin, Taylor and Tabitha Cassidy and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial for Joan will take place on Thursday, June 5 at 10:00 AM at the Church of the Assumption, 28 Monmouth Road, Wrightstown, NJ 08562 with burial to follow in Assumption Cemetery in New Egypt. Calling hours for Joan will be on Wednesday, June 4 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM and again on Thursday morning from 8:45 to 9:45 AM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street, New Egypt, NJ 08533.
