Benardo A. Abatto, age 75, of Southampton died Thursday, July 24 at Virtua Memorial Hospital in Mount Holly. Born in Trenton, he was a resident of Southampton Twp. since 1985 and formerly of Trenton. Benardo was an Army Veteran serving in Korea from 1963 to 1965. He worked as a machinist and tool & die maker for DeLaval in Trenton and most recently he worked as a maintenance supervisor for the Marriott Corporation on the New Jersey Turnpike. Benardo was a parishioner of the Church of the Holy Eucharist in Tabernacle. Benardo is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Monica Abatto of Browns Mills; a daughter, Dawn Abatto of Fairless Hills, PA; three grandchildren, Kyle Smith, Antonella Abatto and Esteban Talento; his companion of 30 years, Jean Orloski of Southampton and her three children, Ronnie Sherbaum and wife Donna, Ray Sherbaum and Theresa Mayne and husband Derrick, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Gerry Tomko and husband Mike of Hamilton Twp. and Doris Goulding and husband John of Lawrenceville, their daughter Maria Al-Ebus and husband Marco, and a brother, Michael Abatto of Pennsylvania, several great and great-great nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Benardo will be held on Thursday, July 31 at 12:30 PM at the Chapel of the BGWCD Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road, Wrightstown, NJ 08562 under the direction of the Tilghman Funeral Home in New Egypt (www.tilghmanfh.com).
