Richard Emery, age 62, of New Egypt passed away suddenly at home on Sunday, March 1. Born in Trenton, he was a lifetime New Egypt area resident. Richard was employed in the Ocean County Road Department for over 20 years, most of his career in the New Egypt Garage and recently he was transferred to the Jackson Garage. Richard enjoyed hunting and fishing, working in his garage and he liked working in his garden especially growing pumpkins. But above all, Richard loved to spend time with his beloved grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Lavinia (Hurley) Emery and by a brother, Joseph Emery, Jr. Richard is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Emery; a son, Hank Emery and fiancée Kristen Mendenko of New Egypt; four beloved grandchildren, Alexis Oldham, Dylan Marino, Ian Davis and Hank Joseph Emery, Jr.; four siblings, Shirley Ann Dobbins of Alabama, Thomas Emery and wife Cynthia of New Egypt, Donald Emery and wife Gladys of New Egypt and Charlotte Lewis and husband Joseph of New Egypt and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Richard will be held on Saturday, March 7 at 3:00 PM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street, New Egypt, NJ 08533 (www.tilghmanfh.com). Visitation will be from 12 Noon until 3:00 PM at the funeral home.
