Dorothy Mae VanAlstyne, 76, of Whiting passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at Community Medical Center in Toms River. Born in Pennsylvania to the late George and Edna, she spent her early years there before moving to New Jersey. Dorothy had a talent for sewing and enjoyed crafting in her spare time. She loved her poodles, staying active and was known for her multiple collections. Dorothy was a hardworking, resilient and strong-willed woman who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Dorothy is predeceased by her parents, her first husband William Stintsman Sr., her son William T. Stintsman Jr., her second husband Bill VanAlstyne and five siblings; Sam, Charles, George, Earl and Irwin. She leaves behind her companion of over 40 years Louis Stinson, two sons; David Stintsman and wife Teriann, George D. Stintsman and wife Michelle, three daughters; Dolores Stinson and husband Richard, Katherine Cash and husband William, Susan Glovacz and husband Joseph, four brothers; Joseph Engel, David Foley, Robert Engel and John McDonald, along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. All services are under the direction of Tilghman Funeral Home.
