John P. Villani, Jr., age 69, of Cookstown passed away Monday, March 30 at Hamilton Grove Healthcare & Rehab in Hamilton Twp. Born in Plainfield, NJ, he was a resident of Cookstown since 1987 and was formerly of Toms River. John served in the US Army during the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1970. He retired as a longshoreman with Maersk/Sea-Land Containers in Port Elizabeth, NJ. John was a member of the VFW Post 6590 in Cookstown and the New Egypt Elks Lodge #2457. John was predeceased by his parents, John P. and Carmela (Sylvester) Villani. He is survived by a son, John P. Villani III of Mansfield Twp., a daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Rodney Leary of Cookstown; his girlfriend, Lorna Krynack of Cookstown; three grandchildren, Morgan Leary, Johnathan Leary and Anthony Villani; a brother, Joe Villani of New Jersey; two sisters, JoAnn Gano and Patricia Riedinger both of Florida and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for John will be held on Saturday, April 4 at 1:00 PM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street, New Egypt, NJ 08533 (www.tilghmanfh.com). Calling hours will be on Saturday from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be on Wednesday, April 8 at 2:00 PM at the BGWCD Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Arneytown. Those going to the cemetery should meet at the funeral home at 1:30 PM to drive to the cemetery in procession.
