Katherine C. Gilbert, age 78, of New Egypt passed away Monday, April 27 at Deborah Hospital in Browns Mills. Born in Long Branch, she was a long time New Egypt area resident. Katherine enjoyed working in her garden and taking care of her family. She was predeceased by her parents, Victor and Mary Gilbert and by her siblings, Helen Silverman, Carolyn Bozarth, Sonny Gilbert and Gene Gilbert. She is survived by seven sisters, Judy Orts, Mary Austin, Irene Gilbert and Virginia Young all of New Egypt, Shirley Fite of Jacobstown, Betty Miller of Hamilton and Madeline Gilbert of Leroy, WV; three brothers, Clifford Gilbert, Wayne “Red” Gilbert and Vincent Gilbert all of New Egypt; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Funeral services for Katherine will be held on Thursday, April 30 at 12:00 Noon at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street in New Egypt (www.tilghmanfh.com), with burial to follow in Zion Cemetery in New Egypt. Calling hours will be on Thursday morning from 10:00 AM until Noon at the funeral home.
