Madeline G. “Maddie” LaChance, 75, of New Egypt passed away peacefully with her family by her side on May 10, 2015 at Samaritan Hospice in Mt. Holly. Born in Starksboro, VT to the late Everette and Ruby Smith, Maddie spent her childhood years in Franklin, NH before moving to New Egypt in 1963. Maddie loved spending time with her children, traveling with her husband and also enjoyed fishing. She also had a talent for crocheting and finding gems at yard sales and thrift stores. Maddie was a former president of the New Egypt Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and very much involved in the Plumsted Township Senior Outreach Services Program (S.O.S). She was a loving wife, mother and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Maddie is predeceased by her parents, Everette and Ruby Mae Smith, her beloved husband Stephen LaChance Jr (2009) and her sister Juanita Judkins. She leaves behind her loving children, Stephen C. LaChance III and wife Beth of Chandler AZ, Susan LaChance of New Egypt, and Mike LaChance and wife Michelle of New Egypt; four grandchildren, Shawn LaChance, Chelsea Crammer, Alyssa LaChance and Ethan LaChance; siblings, Bev Worden of Hill NH, Carrie Bartz of Franklin NH, Everett Smith of SC and JoAnn Morrill of Bristol NH; brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, Leland Kimball of Bow NH, Carlene Guimond and husband Ernie of Bow NH, Larry Kimball and wife Irene of Wolfeboro NH, Brent Kimball and wife Maryjean of Manchester NH; several nieces and nephews, and many friends. Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday from 6pm to 8pm at the Tilghman Funeral Home, located at 52 Main Street, New Egypt NJ 08533 (TilghmanFH.com) and again on Thursday from 9:30am to 10:30am. A service will be held at the funeral home 10:30am on Thursday with interment to follow at BGWCD Veteran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, may make donations in Maddie’s name to the Plumsted Township Senior Outreach Services, 121 Evergreen Road, New Egypt, NJ 08533.
