Russell Lester Zoll, age 85, of Lumberton, NJ died Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at Samaritan Hospice. Russ was born in Riverside, NJ. He joined the Air Force in 1947 and served in Germany, England, and Korea during the Korean War. He was also stationed at many bases in the US. He retired from the Air Force in 1967, working first for the Hainesport Tool Company, than Reeves Trucking. Russ loved watching football and surf fishing at the Jersey shore with his loving wife, Claire. They annually rented a house on Holden Beach, SC. He always had a smile and warm greeting for everyone he encountered; a friend to all. Russ was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Claire Anna (Kappel) Zoll, his parents John and Anna May (Smith) Zoll. He was brother of John, Rudolph, Anna May, Herbert, Carl, Elwood, and Arthur Zoll. Father to Russell, Linda, Arthur, and Theresa. Step father to James Karpiak and Sandra Schmidt (Richard). Brother-in-law to John “Jack” Kappel and his family. Funeral services for Russ will be held on Saturday, October 3 at 11:00 am at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street in New Egypt (www.tilghmanfh.com), with burial to follow in the Jacobstown Baptist Cemetery in Jacobstown, NJ. Calling hours will be on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests prayers for Russ or perform a charitable act in his behalf.
