Obituary of Florence M. Horner

Florence M. “Bushie” Horner, age 90, of Jacobstown passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, January 12 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Cookstown, she was a lifetime area resident.
Bushie had worked as a school bus driver for Northern Burlington Schools. She enjoyed picking her own vegetables and trips to Atlantic City with her friend Janet. Bushie liked reading, doing word searches and crossword puzzles and if you happened to stop by while she was working on a puzzle, you would always have to help her on a few pieces. She enjoyed when people would stop by to have coffee and chat and she was known as the neighborhood Nana.
Bushie was predeceased by her parents, J. Thomas and Anna South, her husband, John E. Horner, Jr., a daughter, Joyce Sparaco, her siblings, Tom, Jimmy and Barney South and Mary Ann Whitbeck and a son-in-law, Wayne Leming. She is survived by a son, John Horner III and wife Claire of Pemberton; two daughters, Barbara Leming of New Egypt and Sharon Hopkins and husband Ben of Jacobstown; two brothers, Benny South of Jacobstown and Joe South of Juliustown; a son-in-law, Arnold Sparaco of Wrightstown; thirteen grandchildren, Arnie Sparaco, Ronnie Sparaco, Barbara Sparaco, Wayne Leming, Jr., Melissa Horner, Sherri Horner, John Horner IV, Melissa Rigby, Christy O’Kane, Kevin Hill, Jr., Kyle Hill, Brittany Hopkins and Priscilla Smith; seventeen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Bushie will be held on Saturday, January 16 at 12:00 Noon at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street in New Egypt (www.tilghmanfh.com) with burial to follow in the Jacobstown Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Friday evening, January 15 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM and again on Saturday morning from 11:00 AM until Noon at the funeral home.
