John R. Trout, 80 went home to his Savior, surrounded by this loving family on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at Virtua Hospital, Mt. Holly, NJ. John was born in Juliustown, NJ on May 6, 1935 and remained a life-long resident.
John graduated from Pemberton High School in 1953, worked at Presidential Homes, Pemberton NJ, and then at Harry’s Army Navy Store, in Robbinsville, NJ for 46 years. NJ. John was a renowned gunsmith who took great pride in what he did and loved his work.
John’s greatest pleasure was spending time with his family which he loved and supported with his whole heart. His interests included trapshooting, hunting, fishing, his dogs, and appreciated music. He was a life- long member of the Juliustown United Methodist Church, where he served as a trustee. John was an active member with the Juliustown Vol. Fire Company for over 65 years, holding various offices during that time. He was an exempt member of the NJ Fireman’s Associasion. He was a founding member and Captain of the original Community Emergency Squad in Springfield Twp. In addition, John was an active in many other organizations including: The Fantail Hunting Club, NJ State Trapshooting Assn., Pine Belt Sportsman Club, the Cavaliers, and a life member of the NRA. He belonged to the Pemberton-Pyramid Lodge No. 92, Free and Accepted Masons, the Valley of Central Jersey, and Crescent Shrine.
He was predeceased by his mother Emily Wells Trout and father David Trout. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Mabel, and his two sons, John M. Trout, Eric Trout, their wives JoAnn and Michelle, his three grandchildren, John Smith, Gregory Smith, and Kimberly Paternoster, two grand-daughter in-law’s Jennifer and Julie Smith. Also he had six great grandchildren, Braedon and Bryce Smith, Jacob and Samantha Paternoster, and Sarah and Payton Smith.
A viewing will be held at the Juliustown United Methodist Church from 8:30 am to 12:00 noon on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 with a Masonic Service at 11:00 am. The funeral service will be at 12:00 noon with interment in the church cemetery. All are welcome to attend a luncheon in the church fellowship hall following the service. In lieu of flowers contributions to the Juliustown United Metodist Church, P. O Box 195, Juliustown, NJ 08042 would be appreciated.
