Obituary of John F. Perkins

John F. Perkins, Jr., age 90, passed away Sunday, May 22 at CentraState Medical Center in Freehold. Born in Jersey City, he lived in South Brunswick before moving to New Egypt 12 years ago.
John proudly served in the US Navy during World War II serving aboard the USS Lamar during the Guam and Philippine Campaigns and we thank him for his service. He was a retired truck driver with Hermann Forwarding Company in South Brunswick and was a member of the Teamsters Local 701 in North Brunswick. John enjoyed hunting, but most of all, he loved to spend time with his grandchildren.
John is survived by five children, Geraldine Whiteside and husband James of San Ramon, CA, Renee McNamara and husband Peter of Whitehouse Station, NJ, Debra Bearfoot and husband DeWayne of York, SC, John Perkins and wife Charlene of Branchburg, NJ and David Perkins of New Egypt, NJ; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a brother, Joseph Perkins of Bayonne, NJ; a sister, Lillian Mattey of Ocean, NJ; his former wife, Geraldine of Branchburg, NJ and a former daughter-in-law, Marypat O’Grady of Syracuse, NY.
Funeral services for John will be held on Thursday, May 26 at 6:00 PM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street, New Egypt, NJ 08533 (www.tilghmanfh.com). Calling hours will be on Thursday from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be on Friday, May 27 at 1:00 PM at the BGWCD Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Road, Wrightstown, NJ 08562.
