Obituary of Joseph Truch

Joseph Truch, age 85, of Columbus passed away Sunday, June 19 at Compassionate Care Hospice in Hamilton. Born in Trenton, he lived there before moving to Cream Ridge about 12 years ago and then moving to Columbus nineteen months ago to live with his daughter and son-in-law.
Joe was a union carpenter with Local 31 in Trenton and also was a welder with Industrial Engineering Works in Trenton. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and served as a paratrooper with the 82nd and 187th Airborne Division. Joe was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing and was a member of the NRA. He was an excellent swimmer, an accomplished artist and carver and enjoyed poetry.
Joe was predeceased by his wife Jessie (Barlow) Truch in 2014 and by a son Joseph Truch. He is also predeceased by six siblings, Justin Truch, John Truch, Anna Hasuz, Mary Sypniewski, Stella Inscho and Sophia Leszczuk. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Andrea and John Marcinkowski of Columbus; a granddaughter, Jessica Marcinkowski of Columbus; a brother, Andrew Truch and wife Patricia of Trenton; two sisters, Helen Paszkowski of Trenton and Patricia Grant and husband Charles of Forked River; a sister-in-law, Margaret Truch of Whiting and many nieces and nephews including a special nephew Anthony Paszkowski of Trenton.
Funeral services for Joe will be held on Wednesday, June 22 at 8:00 PM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street, New Egypt, NJ 08533 (www.tilghmanfh.com). Calling hours will be on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment services will be held on Friday, June 24 at 2:00 PM at the Chapel of the BGWCD Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Road in Wrightstown.
Due to cemetery restrictions, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Joe’s name can be made to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org).
