Obituary of Chester M. Archacavage

Chester M. “Chet” Archacavage, age 78, of New Egypt passed away Saturday, June 25 at Lourdes Medical Center in Willingboro. Born in Hunlock Creek, PA, he has been a resident of New Egypt for the past 55 years. Chet was a retired truck driver with the Teamsters Local 469 in Hazlet. He also served in the Navy, he was a member of the Pyramid Masonic Lodge #92 in New Egypt and a former member of the New Egypt Elks Lodge. Chet enjoyed camping in his converted 1953 bus. Chet was predeceased by his parents, Costy and Kathryn (Dubil) Archacavage; a son, Costy Archacavage and two sisters, Marge McLay and Irene Gensel. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joan (Champion) Archacavage; a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Rosemarie Archacavage of Cream Ridge; a daughter and son-in-law, Valerie and Robert Verderosa of East Windsor; a brother, Benjamin Archacavage of Hunlock Creek, PA; a sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Walter Stryczynski of Hunlock Creek, PA; three grandchildren, Michael Archacavage, Kayla Archacavage and Emily Archacavage and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Chet will be held on Thursday, June 30 at 11:00 AM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street, New Egypt, NJ 08533 (www.tilghmanfh.com), with Pastor Dorothy Johns officiating. Burial will be in the Jacobstown Baptist Cemetery in Jacobstown. Calling hours will be on Wednesday evening, June 29 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
