Pamela Valentine (June 16, 1951 - July 15, 2022)
The world lost a vibrant, caring woman on July 15, 2022. Pam Valentine, formerly of Freehold Township, was a 44 year resident of New Egypt. Pam was more than a resident, she was a community builder. She was an elected member of the Plumsted Township Board of Education during the years when the New Egypt High School and Middle School were built. She was a member of the Friends of the New Egypt Library. People who grew up in New Egypt in the 80’s might remember Pam as their preschool teacher, the person who ran boys and girls rec (Hey, Ms. Pam), the smile they saw behind the deli counter at Scotts Superette, or as the DJ at countless school dances. Others may recall her spirited participation at various sporting events cheering on New Egypt and Allentown High School athletes. She had a lengthy career with the NJ Department of Corrections as an executive assistant and enjoyed over a decade of retirement.
Pam was a community builder based on her love for people. At the center of that love was her husband Paul Valentine and their two children, Mary Valentine and Paul Valentine Jr. Pam and Paul were a dynamic couple- always willing to lend a hand to a family member, neighbor, or friend. Pam and Paul were a perfect match; Paul working in the garden, and Pam canning in the kitchen. Pam loved growing beautiful flowers, and birds up and down the eastern seaboard flocked to her feeders located right outside her dining room windows. Pam also loved adventures with her various friend groups- all with their own unique names and lovely casts of characters. One of nine children, Pam had an extended family full of countless nieces and nephews. In the last thirteen years, Pam added to her loves, the role of grandmother. Pam was the kind of grandmother who jumped in puddles and was never afraid to get her hands dirty. When on her own, Pam enjoyed a great book and getting to the Manasquan inlet beach early enough to miss having to pay for a badge!
Pam is survived by her loving husband, Paul Valentine; her children, Mary Valentine (Shanie Israel) and Paul Valentine (Christine Carter); her grandchildren, Austin Collins and Avner Valentine. She is survived by her siblings, Eddie Tillman, John (Peewee) Tillman, Judy Gibson, Linda Musolf, Nancy Stott, and Holly Werner. She is predeceased by her parents, Cecil Tillman and Florence (Peggy) Tillman as well as her siblings Barbara (Bobbie) Morefield and Harold Tillman.
Pam will be missed by all who love her.
Funeral services for Pam will be held on Wednesday, July 20 at 11:00 AM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street, New Egypt, NJ 08533 with burial to follow in Assumption Cemetery in New Egypt. Calling hours will be on Wednesday morning from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
